Supplies Needed:
-Commit to the C Feedback Forms (in your box)
-Start-Stop-Keep Chart (this is in your email)
Today's Agenda:
1. Remind students to put their community service hours in Infinite Campus. They can see Mrs. Gibson if they need help.
2. Have students who attended Commit to the C complete the feedback form. Take the opportunity to discuss responses as a class so we can improve the event.
3. As a class, complete the Start-Stop-Keep chart that you received in your email. Ask students for general feedback in regards to Chestatee about what we should “START doing,” what we should “STOP doing” (i.e. clearly some things are out of our control—for example, wearing IDs. That comes from Central Office, not the school), or what we should “KEEP doing.” Please ask the students for explanations and clarification on WHY and include that on the attached chart. Make sure you include all of your students in on this conversation and take your time collecting student feedback. This is an opportunity for our seniors to help make CHS better for other students in the future. **RETURN THIS TO JENNIFER GIBSON**

Today's Agenda:
1. Spend the period talking to all of your students about what they are planning on doing after graduation. Make notes of who wants to do what if possible so you can connect them with the right people if they still need help making a plan or if they need to be connected to resources. If students are going to a four-year college and need to take the SAT one more time, their final opportunity is March 9, 2019 (Registration deadline is February 8 & the late registration deadline is February 27). For students who need to take the ACT, they can take it on April 13, 2019 (registration deadline March 8 & late registration is between March 9-25).
Also, if students need help with their FASFA, have them come see Mrs. Gibson in the Media Center.

2) Students will try to calculate a budget and discuss the outcomes as you talk about this as a class:
a. You just graduated and now are working 40 hours a week and make $12.50 per hour. You will lose 20% for taxes and insurance out of your salary prior to what you actually bring home. (Discuss gross salary vs net salary)
Students should use their paper and pen to fill in the blanks with amounts they "want to spend" and then calculate and see where they have to be to make budget balance (the "must"). (Discuss savings for when an emergency happens)
Rent/Mortgage: want __________ must___________
Car/Insurance Payment: want _______________ must___________
Phone/Cable/Power/Water: want___________ must___________
Groceries/Gas: want _____________ must___________
Entertainment: want_____________ must___________
Clothes: want___________ must___________
b. Now, what if you are a full time student? How does that affect the above or change it altogether?
school loans
books
classes & number of hours you can work
c. How would academic scholarships help this situation? Why does this place importance on academics?

Today's Lesson:
1) From Mrs. Lambeth: Please talk about the PSAT day plans for 12th graders which is the college tours. I am putting a few permission forms in your box this afternoon (the colors are below). I met with all English classes today to present the information and gave out a lot of permission forms there. I wanted you to have a few for those students who were absent or do not have an English class. Signed forms need to be turned in to the Counselor’s Office by Friday. UNG-Dahlonega will only let us bring 100 students, so the first ones to turn in their forms will get to go. Please help promote this with seniors. They will receive great information!
Field trip forms –
Yellow- UNG-Gainesville
Lavendar – UNG-Dahlonega
Orange – Piedmont
Pink – Brenau
2) We are going to do an introduction to Soft Skills today. We will complete a Soft Skills pre-assessment at the next advisement, but we want students to understand WHY they need the information in the first place. With that in mind, use the following presentation as a basis for discussion on the differences students will encounter when they leave a public high school and eventually enter the workforce. Remember, this is a springboard for you to use--adjust it as needed for your students.
**If you have extra time, go to the last advisement and make sure that they remember the deadlines for SAT/ACT sign ups that we talked about previously.

2. Students will try to calculate a budget and discuss the outcomes as you talk about this as a class:
(Discuss savings for emergency/life happens)
Rent/Mortgage: want __________ must___________
Car/Insurance Payment: want _______________ must___________
Phone/Cable/Power/Water: want___________ must___________
Groceries/Gas: want _____________ must___________
Entertainment: want_____________ must___________
Clothes: want___________ must___________
b. Now, what if you are a full time student? How does that affect the above or change it altogether?

books
classes & number of hours you can work
c. How would academic scholarships help this situation? Why does this place importance on academics?
Share the following internet resource with your class (don't try to cover everything, but decide what you want to focus on ahead of time) and discuss some of the major points that the resource emphasizes about financial planning and responsibility.
Please let them know that we will also have a Financial Aid Assistance Day after school on Monday, February 6th from 4-6 pm. They can stay after school or come in with their parent/guardian & receive assistance completing their FASFA forms.
