Announce the following: Remind your students that Community Service forms AND the accompanying essays are due FRIDAY!
- Please have students complete the worksheet “Reflection Questions” (if your advisement did not have a chance to complete this on Thursday after the last session) and then discuss the information as a class. Truly, these reflection questions are for students to self-assess their experience. You may keep the student sheets or pass them on to Kimberly Holland.
- Poll your class: Ask your students what they liked about Commit to the C and what areas we can improve in. Please email Kimberly Holland with their responses, and include any teacher feedback, too.
- Thank you cards: Please have your students write thank you notes to our volunteers (students may choose who they would like to write to):
- Brian Buffington—(Presentation in the Theater)
- Jamie Shankles (Team Building)
- Reality Store Volunteers (I will send these to Junior Achievement and they can pass them on to specific volunteers).
March 15, 2017
Collect green “Commit to the C” permission slips. Remind students that they must return the sheet ASAP. Also, please remind students that they need to wear tennis shoes/dress comfortably (but still in dress code) and bring $3 (small) or $4 (large) if they want to buy a snow cone from the ice cream truck at lunch. Please give students an overview of what they will be doing that day.
Please continue working with students to complete the entire top ½ of their check register. If you are going to be “switching” with another teacher that day, please be sure that the top half of ALL of your student’s check registers are completely filled out before the morning of Commit to the C. Please make arrangements with the person you are switching with so that they will know where to find the check registers for your students so that they can take them to the Reality Store to distribute to students.
Directions for completing the check register (same as previous advisement session): “Distribute one “Check Register” to each student. Students should fill in their name and the occupation/career that they selected during the last advisement session on their sheet. Work with students to complete all of the information on the check register. Remember, you will have several advisement sessions with students prior to Commit to the C, so the entire top half of the sheet does not have to be filled in today; however, the top half of the sheet must be filled in prior to students entering the Reality Store. Use the slips provided in your maroon advisement teacher folder to have students draw for their marital status and number/ages of their children. Use the Excel spreadsheet to help students determine their salary, etc. “
Collect all student “Check Registers” and keep them in your folder. Please take this folder to the Reality Store during Commit to the C and distribute to students. We will have pencils and calculators for student use at the Reality Store.
